Our Approach

There are options and alternatives in this industry to manufacture responsibly. Since the creation of tulsi label we began our journey in learning and uncovering these possibilities.

Our aim is to design and manufacture garments with greater care and to reduce impact, generate awareness, and ask you, our lovely customers, to join us in taking action in sustainable fashion.

Manufacturing

We work to minimise the negative impacts associated with manufacturing and to ensure that all people involved are treated fairly and respectfully along the way.

As a basic requirement of working with tulsi label we ask every factory we partner with to adhere to internationally-accepted environmental and human rights standards for responsible production.

Packaging

As owners of a small fashion business, we were tired of seeing the huge amount of plastic waste that was involved in manufacturing, warehousing and shipping of our products. We chose to partner with the earth packaging co, a compostable packaging company that offer renewable alternatives to plastic packaging that won’t cost the earth.

Our Fabrics

Linen

Often found throughout our collection, linen is a sustainable fiber made from the flax plant. A gentle crop that helps deter weeds from the plants around it, flax is typically grown without the use of herbicides or pesticides, and compared to cotton or polyester, requires less water and energy to produce. Linen transitions easily from season to season, keeps the body cool and gets softer with each wash and wear.

Cotton
We choose to use natural fabrics that are breathable and cool to wear, cotton is the most common of the natural fibre family, which is grown without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers and requires less irrigation as it relies mainly on rainwater.

Rayon

A plant-based material that is created by converting dissolved wood pulp into versatile fiber using a low-toxicity solvent. During this process, 99.5% of chemicals are reused in a closed-loop system. Rayon is durable without feeling heavy – it has a gentle feel that moves well with the body.

Dying

We ask that all of our factories use high quality dyes, we look for partnerships that are Oeko-Tex® 100 Standard, meaning that raw materials will undergo testing to ensure that no harmful chemicals are used. Our list is ever changing as we continue to learn more about the role and impact of certain chemicals.
